The average age of the vines is indeed old, though the blend includes some more recent massal selection plants from the domaine and from Clos des Epeneaux – scions of old vines, if you like! A fresh pale ruby. This is elegant with an impressive tension. Bright fresh cherry notes, floral, with impressive length. A charmer with an ethereal note. Tasted Dec 2023.

Pre 1960 vines in pinot fin. A fresh crimson ruby. The bouquet is not the deepest, but on the palate this has both breadth and depth, a concentrated cherry-raspberry, medium acidity, some tannins. Tasted Dec 2023.

The 2016 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots, matured in 100% new oak with 100% whole bunch, has a lovely bouquet with floral, rose petal scents waltzing with redcurrant and raspberry fruit. I love the delineation here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, ripe red berry fruit, veins of blueberry and cassis that dovetail into quite a structured, almost Malconsorts-like finish. Great potential.

From old Chardonnay vines in Mardeuil’s tiny, north-facing Les Basses Ronces vineyard (pure chalk just 30 cm below surface). The 2015 vintage brings lush roundness and oceanic minerality. Greedy entry, ample chalky mid-palate, lingering fine bitters—profound now, sublime with cellar time.

Sourced from three distinct plots—Mouille-Brant, Vieux Moulin, and Grille Besace—this 2020 wine benefits from Kimmeridgian limestone-clay soils that deliver marked freshness and salinity. For this vintage, longer pressing created a subtle natural coloration, yet the wine remains untouched.
Delicate red berry, raspberry, and ripe orange aromas with floral hints give way to a fresh, mineral palate with pure texture, saline tension, and a refreshing chalky finish.

This wine draws from three exceptional one-hectare old-vine plots in Aube, at the southern edge of Champagne. The warm, generous 2005 vintage produced richly fleshy Pinot Noir with soft texture and vibrant preserved acidity. Twenty years on, it has evolved into a mature expression of roasted hazelnuts, beeswax, smoked bread, and profound aged complexity.

Winemaker’s note
The grapes used are a complex blend of the following varities: Muller-Thurgau, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sylvaner, Sauvignon Gris, Pinot Meunier, Gewurztraminer, and Sauvignon Blanc.
The 2023 Vineyard Moo Petillant Naturel is a pale lemon-yellow color, with a very vigorous bead. The aromas are of lemon, under-ripe pineapple, and elderflower with a touch of brioche. The mouth is light and elegant, with a vigorous mousse and a bright, clean finish. Excellent aperitif wine. No need to wait on this one... just pop, pour, and enjoy!

Winemaker’s note
The Vineyard Moo Mori to Sora (Forest and Sky) is a blend of the more full-bodied, elegant varieties planted at Vineyard Moo. Chardonnay and Aligote provide body, depth, and structure, while the Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling provide graceful hints of fruit and flowers, and good acidity.
The grapes are harvested separately by cultivar to ensure optimal ripeness. They are then gently pressed and fermented at cool temperatures using wild yeasts. The fermentations are carried out mostly in stainless steel, but some older French Oak barrels (30%) were used to enhance mouthfeel and texture. Aging was sur lies for 8 months before bottling without filtration.
The result is a full-bodied, elegant wine redolent of ripe peach and pear, with hints of elderflower and herbs. The balance is quite good (2023 was an atypically warm year in Hokkaido, leading to a lack of acidity in some wines), yielding a wine very enjoyable now, yet capable of aging a few years in bottle.

The 2024 No Place Like Home comes from a Syrah parcel planted in 2006 that usually takes two and a half weeks or even longer to pick. Around 62% was aged in Lambson's newly installed 5,000-litre concrete vats, with around half the bunches whole cluster. This has a very pure and intense bouquet, with intense black fruit interlaced with pressed violet and peony. Stunning delineation. The palate is medium-bodied, with finely chiselled tannins, a silver bead of acidity, precise and mineral-led on the long finish. Outstanding

Delightfully juicy in the glass, the 2020 Old Vine Series Treinspoor offers ripe, spiced plum notes with a pleasurable mineral edge and nuances of black raspberry and sweet tobacco, with an undercurrent of charming dark red fruit tones. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is compact and precise, with a firm, tannic edge that will remain food-friendly for years to come. This delicious and complex wine continues to unpack and reveal its complexities over the elongated and juicy finish. It’s gorgeous in every sense of the word.
