Folium Vineyard in Marlborough’s Brancott Valley does things differently, and it’s all about the vines🌱. Japanese winemaker Takaki Okada named his NZ winery Folium—Latin for LEAF—because his dry-farmed vines do the hard work, digging deep into clay-based soils shaped by ancient glaciers and rivers. Unlike nearly every other vineyard in Marlborough that relies on irrigation, Folium skips it, pushing the vines’ roots deep to find water. These soils hold just enough moisture to balance the vines, crafting wines that truly capture their terroir and vintage.
Without irrigation, Folium’s vines grow fewer leaves, letting more sunlight reach the grapes. This reduces those grassy, green flavors (Methoxypyrazines) typical of Marlborough. These wines are unlike any Marlborough bottles you know.

We’re excited to present Domaine Tortochot Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, with three back-vintages released ex-domaine in 2025 at prices matching current releases. Perfectly mature ready to drink now, these wines deliver the refined elegance of Gevrey-Chambertin. The producer’s own words, from their official website, say it best: “considered to be a feminine wine with plenty of finesse and elegance. Small red berries and silky tannins on the palate.”
Armed with a viticulture degree, oenology Master’s, and experience at Chapoutier in Rhone, Pibarnon in Bandol, Walla Walla in Washington State, plus analyzing virtually all Burgundy’s wines at an independent lab, Florence’s expertise crafts wines of Burgundian finesse and worldly sophistication.✨
With less than 2,000 cases produced annually from very old, low-yield vines in Puligny, these are rare gems. The estate’s sustainable practices – no insecticides or herbicides, hand-picked into small cases and use minimal new oak – ensure purity. Reds are light to medium-bodied, structured, with vibrant red berry and cherry notes that unfold beautifully with air. Whites outperform their classification: Bourgogne Blanc from Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet plots; Meursault, classic yet lively with acidity and tension; and Puligny Les Enseignères, nestled at the foot of Grand Cru Bâtard-Montrachet for unparalleled terroir.💓

Their holdings include two villages, three Premier Crus (Les Suchots, Aux Boudots, Les Damodes), and Grand Cru Echézeaux. Le Poruzots reveals vibrant minerality, elegant fruit aromas, and a rich, full-bodied structure, seamlessly blending Meursault’s signature roundness with powerful depth. Through Laurent’s signature oak aging, the terroir’s intensity and the wine’s balance reach their pinnacle.

Jon’s winemaking approach is minimalist and hands-off, yet precise and deliberate. His wines are vibrant and impeccably crafted, made with spontaneous fermentation, no new oak, no fining or filtration, no pumps, extended maceration with whole clusters, and no added sulfur. The resulting wines are richly textured yet gracefully refined, balancing a timeless, sophisticated character with a lively, unforced purity.

Their 4.6-hectare family estate spans 47 Chardonnay parcels across the Grand Cru villages of Avize, Cramant, Oger, and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Each village contributes a unique profile🌱: Cramant blends minerality, salinity, chalkiness, and creaminess; Avize offers crisp, pure minerality; Oger provides rounded, naturally fruity notes (often pressed first for its sweeter grapes); and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger adds vibrant, linear minerality.
