Free Tasting After Work : Hofgut Falkenstein on Apr 24

  • Vynluna Wines - Tasting Studio Room 309, 3/F, Yu Yuet Lai Building, 43-55 Wyndham Street Central, Hong Kong Island Hong Kong SAR China (map)

Calling all Riesling lovers! Join us for a rare opportunity to taste the exceptional 2022 vintage Rieslings from Germany's acclaimed Hofgut Falkenstein winery. In this vintage, Hofgut Falkenstein shone among German producers, with their off-dry Riesling achieving the highest score from Mosel Fine Wines. Remarkably, despite the summer's heat, they also crafted exquisite Kabinett wines exhibiting precision, balance, and a subtle zest.

Located in the Mosel region, this family-owned estate boasts coveted vineyards in the prized Euchariusberg site, yielding powerful, mineral-driven wines. Since its establishment in the 1980s, when the domaine first began its operations, they have focused on traditional winemaking methods, eschewing chemicals, working steep slopes without machine’s help and hand-harvesting grapes.. No steel tanks are used, and the wines undergo spontaneous fermentation and gentle maturation in old German oak barrels (fuders). With an annual production of only 3,000 cases, each fuder is bottled separately using the AP number arrangement, showcasing the individual characteristics of each site and each barrel. These labor-intensive, meticulous processes preserve winemaking history and create a unique treasure representing the region's terroir.

Join us on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at our Central Tasting Studio and discover the magic of these exceptional bottles for yourself – a rare opportunity not to be missed.

Please RSVP to sales@vynluna.com to secure your spot for the event, and take advantage of the special purchase offers.

Critical Praise

“Of course, for a combination of complexity, finesse and low alcohol in dry Riesling, you need look no further – especially this year – than Hofgut Falkenstein.”

David Schildknecht, Vinous.com

“If you are interested in superb, classic, highly individual Saar Rieslings, Hofgut Falkenstein is one of the very best addresses... Unfortunately, the Falkensteiner Rieslings are fast-selling wines. You need to have a great relationship with your supplier, because even at the domaine you won't get a bottle to buy, only to drink. Erich and Johannes Weber could sell each bottle at least two times. There is no other domain that is as "hot" as the Falkensteiner Hof right now.”

Stephan Reinhardt, Robertparker.com

“The Estate has been a fine source for steely expressions of Saar Riesling since the start. However, the level of finesse has soared over the last few years while the ethos of the Webers remained unchanged: “We want to produce light-weighted, playful, and complex wines. This expresses the beauty of our Saar vineyards so well.”… The resulting wines show stunning brightness and delicacy. They are intense yet gorgeously light-footed … and they embrace acidity. The wines need time ... as did most of the great Mosel wines from the 1980s and the 1990s. The Estate has been on fire since 2014 (we amply reported on it), and its wines have been fixed features in our list of yearly highlights for years now, and this in all stylistic directions.”
