Tasting note
The 2020 A Cesteira feels sharp and wild with piercing acidity and an effervescent sensation on the palate. It is a little austere on the nose, serious and subtle, electric and vibrant. It has purity, symmetry and nuance and is crystalline and precise. It has 13% alcohol, a pH of 3.01 and 9.4 grams of acidity (tartaric), really unusual parameters—moderate alcohol and great freshness. This comes from a 0.6-hectare plot with pergola vines planted some 45 years ago on slate and clay soils. It matured in stainless steel for seven months and spent four months in 500-liter oak barrels. Production has grown in 2020 to 2,000 bottles. It was bottled in August 2021.
