1/ Dominique Cornin Pouilly-Fuisse 2022 - Bt

Special Offer : HK$345 HK$276

Tasting notes

Lively lemon citrus aromas blend with fragrant white stone fruits in this wine. Sourced from vines planted between 1909 and 1965 in Fuisse, it offers a vibrant palate with a touch of tropical fruits.

2/ Dominique Cornin Pouilly-Fuisse Clos du Roy 2021 - Bt | RP92

Special Offer : HK$365 HK$292

Tasting notes

The 2021 Pouilly-Fuissé Clos du Roy is one of the richer wines in the range, exhibiting notes of honeyed orchard fruit, citrus zest, white flowers and lilac, followed by a medium to full-bodied, bright and satiny palate that's pure, layered and saline. Formerly known as the Clos Reyssié, this is always a more muscular bottling, so the cooler vintage has actually imparted unusual finesse.

Score: 92

3/ Dominique Cornin Pouilly-Fuisse Les Plessys 2021 - Bt | RP92

Special Offer : HK$375 HK$300

Tasting notes

Revealing scents of honey, white flowers, pear and baking spices, the 2021 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Plessys is medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless, with a racy spine of acidity and a pure core of fruit. This, too, has turned out nicely despite the challenges of the vintage.

Score: 92

4/ Dominique Cornin Pouilly-Fuisse Les Chevrieres Premier Cru 2021 - Bt | RP93

Special Offer : HK$410 HK$328

Tasting notes

The king of the cellar chez Cornin is the 2021 Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru Les Chevrières, a lovely wine redolent of stone fruits, orange zest, pear, musky spices, flowers and honey, followed by a medium to full-bodied, deep and satiny palate that's lively, seamless and complete. Spared by both frost and hail, it's a great success.

Score: 93

The Estate in detail

Established in 1993 after the family stopped selling grapes to négoce, Romain Cornin now runs the estate with his wife Adeline after joining the family estate in 2011. They farm plots with a mix of clay, limestone, and schist soil, and there is a commitment to produce the highest quality and healthiest grape in a rich and living soil. Viticulture and vinification are both done with minimal intervention, allowing the wines to express the vineyard’s terroir.

No herbicides are used since 1998, and following biodynamic principles, only a small quantity of sulphur and copper is used to treat the vineyards, as well as endemic plant infusions such as nettles, horsetail, and yarrow. Space between rows is left grassed, and biodiversity is encouraged.

All grapes are handpicked, and softly pressed by pneumatic press. The must naturally settles from cooling in thermos regulated vats. Fermentation occurs naturally with natural yeasts, and gravity flow is used in the wine-making process. The wines are aged in stainless steel, or oak barrels and demi-muids for the single vineyard Pouilly-Fuissé wines. The wines are typically not fined, but lightly filtered prior to bottling with only a small dose of sulphur added.

Critical praise

“This fine 10-hectare domaine located in and around Chaintré produces excellent wines from seriously farmed vineyards. The Cornins practice biodynamic methods in a sector where such conscientiousness is far from the norm, harvesting by hand and vinifying in stainless steel, followed by élevage in used barrels and demi-muids for the lieu-dit bottlings. Many of the domaine's vines are very old—fully a century old in the case of Les Serreudières. The result is fleshy but succulent wines that deliver immense pleasure on release but which are balanced to mature gracefully in the cellar.”

William Kelley, robertparker.com

“Having visited this estate for several years, there is a reassuring consistency from vintage to vintage. Like his father, Cornin is a clever, thoughtful vigneron whose wines, for want of a better word, contain that elusive virtue of…soul.”
