Tasting note
Light, bright gold. Pungent citrus and orchard fruit flavors are complemented by vanilla bean and spicecake. Fleshy on the attack, this Saumur firms up in the middle palate, offering sweet orange and poached pear flavors with mounting spice character on the second sip. The vanilla quality echoes through the long, sappy, subtly mineral finish. A hint of oak is still present, but this wine is just now beginning to show its true pedigree. This is one of the finest chenin blancs that I tasted this year.
