Nestled in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan🎌, Coco Farm & Winery is celebrated in the Japanese wine industry for its unique origins and gentle philosophy. The story began in 1958, when teachers and students from Kokoromi Gakuen—a special needs school—started planting vines on the steep Jurassic-bedrock hillsides🙌. What began as a heartfelt way to foster confidence, purpose, and personal value through hands-on viticulture has grown into one of Japan's most respected estates.
Today, Kokoromi students continue tending the sun-drenched, well-drained slopes alongside skilled viticulture professionals, 🫶hand-caring for every vine. Committed to sustainability—no herbicides or chemicals—and traditional winemaking with wild yeasts, they honor Japan's unique terroir. All wines are made from 100% Japanese-grown grapes, sourced from the Tochigi estate and dedicated contract growers in Hokkaido, Yamagata, Nagano, Yamanashi, Gunma, Saitama, and beyond. A diverse range of varieties flourishes here, from native Muscat Bailey A, Riesling Lion, and Shokoshi to international favorites like Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Auxerrois, and more—creating elegant, refined wines with profound structure and delicate flavors that earn praise from enthusiasts worldwide.
We're especially excited to showcase the rare Coco To Aru series☺️, crafted by winemaker Bruce Gutlove at Hokkaido's 10R Winery using carefully grown Yoichi grapes. These limited-edition wines use minimal intervention to express pure terroir—rich, lovely aromas and natural character that reflect Coco Farm's deep respect for nature and dedication to exceptional Japanese wine.
