Sadie Family Wines: The Purest Expression of Swartland Terroir

呢種專注風土嘅態度，同樣貫穿於Die Ouwingerdreeks (Old Vine Series)🌱。’Skurfberg’來自紅砂岩土壤嘅老藤 Chenin Blanc，強勁卻緊緻，礦物感同鹹香明顯；’Kokerboom’係罕見嘅老藤Semillon Blanc同Gris混釀，質地較豐盈，帶蜂蠟同熱帶果香，同時保持清新。紅酒方面亦一樣注重單一葡萄園嘅表達。’Soldaat’係來自高海拔砂岩坡嘅透明、芬芳 Grenache；而’Treinspoor’則係種植喺由砂岩、花崗岩同石英岩構成嘅沖積平原土壤上、結構更結實嘅 Tinta Barocca需要時間陳年後更有層次。

Old Vine Series 強調個別微風土，而 Palladius 同 Columella 則採取更廣闊嘅視角。’Palladius’將多種 Swartland白葡萄品種混成層次豐富、質感細膩嘅白葡萄酒；’Columella’則以同樣方式處理紅酒，複雜、單寧細緻，橫跨多個葡萄園。兩者一齊展現咗當唔同葡萄園同品種互相補足時，Swartland所能呈現嘅樣貌。

There’s a particular clarity to the way Eben Sadie works in the Swartland🇿🇦—more than twenty years of attention to soil health and old, dry-farmed bush vines, with a light hand in the cellar. Natural fermentations and minimal handling give the Sadie Family wines a precision closer to thoughtful Rhone or Loire examples than to heavier South African styles, the kind of site-driven character that has drawn serious attention to both the region and the producer.

That same focus on place runs through Die Ouwingerdreeks (Old Vine Series)🌱. Skurfberg, from old Chenin Blanc on citrusdal red sandstone, is powerful yet taut, mineral and saline. ‘Kokerboom’, a rare blend of old Semillon Blanc and Gris, is richer and more textural, with beeswax and tropical notes kept fresh. The reds follow the same approach: ‘Soldaat’ a transparent, perfumed Grenache from higher sandstone slopes; ‘Pofadder’ a bright, charming Cinsault on iron-rich slate; ‘Treinspoor’ is a firmer, more structured Tinta Barocca grown on alluvial plain soils of sandstone, granite, and quartz formations that needs time to open.

Where the Old Vine Series highlights specific micro-terroirs, Palladius and Columella take a broader view. Palladius and Columella take a broader view. ‘Palladius’ gathers many Swartland white varieties into a layered, textured blend; ‘Columella’ does the same for red—complex and finely tannic across multiple vineyards. Together they show what the region can offer when different sites and varieties complement one another.
