Domaine de la Taille aux Loups, founded by Loire legend Jacky Blot to champion Montlouis, is now led by his talented son Jean-Philippe since Jacky’s passing in May 2023. These pure Montlouis Chenin Blancs combine old vines and no malo-lactic fermentation for intense, balanced wines with excellent ageing potential. We feature Remus (50–80 year old vines – a balanced house reference), Clos Michet (40–60 year old vines – mineral and precise), and Les Hauts de Husseau (🌱70+ year old vines at 200m – structured and long-lived).
Matthias Planchon, a talented young winemaker from one of the oldest vigneron families in Sancerre, offers an elegant Pinot Noir red 🍷from high-density plantings, noted for its finesse and poise.
Etienne Bodet, trained with 🫡Sylvain Pataille, Aurelien Gerbais, Bernard Baudry, Francois Dal and his stepfather Romain Guiberteau — and now part of Clos Rougeard’s winemaking team — produces refined Saumur Chenin Blancs brimming with depth and elegance.
Thibaud Boudignon shines with his tiny 0.5 ha La Vigne Cendree in Savennieres. This exceptional mosaic of 17 soil types, including purple schist, granite and clay with southern exposure, yields a richer, Burgundian-style Savennieres Chenin (no malolactic fermentation). Aged in barrels and foudre without new wood, it delivers impressive drive, length, texture and lees-derived complexity.
Vincent Gaudry creates authentic Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc by prioritising terroir purity over bold fruit💚, revealing the true essence of limestone and silex soils with clarity and restraint.

Chenin Blanc. The domaine’s oldest vines. A vineyard with quite a bit of limestone. 2023 was much warmer than 2024, according to Jean-Philippe Blot, to the extent that this parcel was harvested a month earlier in 2023.
Strong notes of hay and volatile acidity at first, then it opens up to quince paste, green apple and slight vegetal notes of turmeric and pumpkin. Very mineral and stony. Tightly wound.

Matthias Planchon Sancerre Les Herses Rouge 2020 - Bt

This elegant Pinot Noir is sourced from 0.98 hectares of flint-rich clay soils in Les Herses, with southeast exposure. The vines, averaging 45 years old, are planted at high density (7,700 vines/ha) with low yields (40 hl/ha) for concentration.
Hand-harvested with 30% whole bunches and 70% destemmed grapes, it shows a refined nose of ripe cherries, fresh foliage and delicate herbs. The palate is juicy yet elegant, with silky tannins, mineral salinity, bright acidity and a long, captivating finish. Excellent aging potential.

The cool 2023 vintage brings striking tension and energy, creating a beautiful harmony between concentration and lightness. This Chenin Blanc comes from a tiny 0.5-hectare parcel of young vines planted in 2015 not far from La Roche aux Moines. Aged 12 to 18 months in older Burgundy barrels and foudres on fine lees, it displays a striking nose of golden apple, citrus blossom and flint. The palate is dense and textured, with layers of baked pear, lemon curd and crushed rock, lifted by vibrant acidity and a long, smoky mineral finish. Taut, complex and built for graceful aging.

In contrast to the tension of À Mi-Chemin, this Sancerre grown on flint soils, the 2022 Pour Vous, is much more open and richly fruited. Hailing from vines over 50 years old with their feet in clay chalk soils, you can expect ripe apples, which verge on tarte tatin-like flavors. While there's richness and depth of concentration, it's all contained within a compact core. The finish is lingering, powerful and warmly spiced.

Vincent Gaudry Sancerre A Mi-Chemin 2022 - Bt

The 2022 À Mi-Chemin is not a wine you should judge by its cover: initially, it seems very ripe, fruity and welcoming on the nose. But then it shows its true colors. This wine is the vinous equivalent of having a bucket of water thrown in your face while you're asleep. The tension and mineral flinty character are real wake-up calls for your palate. Its persistence and line are powerfully pushed across your palate. It has spice and momentum and holds you tight. The 2022 needs time. It was grown on a flint-rich parcel in the village of Saint-Satur, which sits below the hilltop town of Sancerre.
