Emmanuel Rouget 2023: Cros Parantoux & Les Beaumonts (Pre-Arrival)
Few names in Burgundy carry the weight of Henri Jayer. Emmanuel Rouget learned the work beside his uncle, Henri Jayer, bottled his first Echézeaux in 1985, and in 1989 released the first Cros Parantoux under the Rouget label — the vineyard Jayer had pulled back from neglect and made legendary. That continuity is the point🫶. The wines are still made in the same spirit: fully destemmed, a long cool maceration, 100% new oak for the Grands and Premiers Crus, nothing forced.
Nicolas now runs the vines; Guillaume, in the cellar since 2011, has the same quiet hand. The result is what collectors come for: energy, reserve, a streak of wildness, and the kind of structure that only shows itself after years in bottle. Give them time in the cellar, or open them well ahead of dinner — they reward patience. Exceptional bottles from a family that continues to raise the bar.

A vivid, piquant bouquet features crushed red berries, savory accents, rare herbal infusions and a surprising citrus lift. The taut, precise mid-weight palate stays lean and stone-driven rather than rich, finishing with striking length, balance and youthful reserve. Best enjoyed from 2035.

From two parcels of 50+-year-old vines in Flagey, aged entirely in new oak. Cool, lifted aromas mix red and dark cherries with floral tea and zest; spice is vivid, oak modest. Tension threads silky mineral flavors that close long, poised and youthfully firm.
