Tasting note
The 2008 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru is a wine that I have not tasted before. It puts in a curious performance. The pungent firework/ferrous nose is very intense but manages to completely obfuscate the terroir or sense of Chevalier-Montrachet. The palate is rich, with crème brûlée and nutmeg notes and impressive depth. Tangy toward the finish, which demonstrates a lick of marmalade. But that nose just seems to knock this Grand Cru off balance. An errant bottle?
