Tasting note
The 1990 Richebourg Grand Cru has a decadent bouquet of intense black cherry and blueberry fruit; hints of licorice and melted tar develop with time as the aromatics seem to grow in volume. The palate is almost bulging with a mixture of precocious red and black fruit, framed by quite sturdy tannin that is uncommon in this vintage. It does not quite deliver the natural harmony and “flow” of the 1990 Richebourg from DRC, although it does have the density and sense of self-importance that you look for in this vineyard. Tasted at the DRC/Leroy comparative dinner in Hong Kong.
