Tasting note
Served blind as a ‘ringer’ during the Rousseau Chambertin dinner. Still very youthful in colour, though the bouquet indicates that this must have a little age. It is unquestionably a glorious wine, with an exceptional nuanced delicacy despite the robust sweetness of the ripe red fruit. My first impression was that this was in another league from even the 1990 Rousseau Chambertin, to which I returned. My next thought was that it appeared slightly lacking in grace alongside. In fact the right thing to do was to treat them as two entirely different and utterly glorious wines. Tasted May 2019.
