Tasting note
Dynamic and riveting on the nose, waves of sweet blueberries and mulberries waft from the glass. The whole bunch use is clearly evident with ample spice leading from the perfume through the substantial finish. Like the Echézeaux, this sings with an impressive and unexpected vitality and freshness. The yields here were 18hl/ha, the third lowest—along with the Romanée-Conti vineyard—of the domaine. These plots were the penultimate on the harvest schedule—picked on 10 and 11 October. Bertrand de Villaine told me while tasting the wines in barrel in the fall of 2014 that the 2013 vintage was so late that it reminded him of vintages like 1978 and 1979. This opened up even further over the next several hours. Drink from 2022-2035. Tasted Feb 2026 by Christy Canterbury MW.
Score: 96
