Their 4.6-hectare family estate spans 47 Chardonnay parcels across the Grand Cru villages of Avize, Cramant, Oger, and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Each village contributes a unique profile🌱: Cramant blends minerality, salinity, chalkiness, and creaminess; Avize offers crisp, pure minerality; Oger provides rounded, naturally fruity notes (often pressed first for its sweeter grapes); and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger adds vibrant, linear minerality.

Sam Lambson, a winemaker who, at just 21 and studying Oenology at Stellenbosch University, stole the show at a 2018 London trade tasting. His wines, celebrated for their vibrant acidity and pure expression, are truly something special.

The wine world is buzzing about him. Greg Sherwood MW calls Sam “a star to watch.” Neal Martin of Vinous.com tasted Sam’s Stars in the Dark Syrah 2019 and compared it to South Africa’s most legendary wines, predicting he’ll “have to get accustomed to adulation and demand outstripping supply”. Jancis Robinson MW was charmed by the 2018 Elim Syrah, calling it “delightfully transparent, savoury, and appetising”—a standout in the Cape’s Syrah scene.

This boutique Lower Helderberg winery from Southern Stellenbosch is the passion of seventh-generation winemaker Bernhard Bredell. Founded in 2016, its name blends “scion” (young vine or descendant) and “Sinai” (the hill where his family has farmed bush vines for over 160 years). Bernhard preserves these old vines while crafting wines that express the unique terroir. Producing under 900 cases annually, his wines are rare treasures.

Yves and Mathilde Gangloff are icons of the Rhône Valley, particularly in Condrieu, Cote-Rotie, and St.-Joseph. Their micro-domaine is characterized by meticulous vineyard practices and limited production. The steep, cool terroirs they cultivate, rich in granite and schist, allow for the creation of exceptional wines that truly reflect their origins. In the cellar, Yves employs traditional methods, using wild yeasts and minimal intervention, resulting in wines that are vibrant and full of personality, showcasing classic Cote-Rotie and Condrieu aromas. Their wines are not just collectibles; they offer captivating experiences for wine lovers.

Celebrate love❤️ this season with a bottle from Domaine Lionnet - this week we spotlight Domaine Lionnet from Northern Rhone, a husband-and-wife team deeply connected to their winemaking craft.

Corinne Lionnet’s family has been growing grapes in Cornas since 1575, enriching their heritage. Since taking over in 2007, Corinne and her husband, Ludovic Izerable, have crafted exceptional wines that have garnered acclaim, with Josh Raynolds noting they produce "some of the best traditionally styled wines in Cornas."👏👏👏👏👏

Domaine Lionnet spans 2.2 hectares in Cornas and 1.8 hectares in Saint-Joseph, featuring steep, south-facing slopes where old vines thrive (some over 100 years old). The unique terroir of Cornas, characterized by granite soils and an ideal climate, allows for the production of concentrated, expressive Syrah. Their organic (with Ecocert) and biodynamic practices foster a harmonious relationship with the environment.

All work is done by hand. Using whole clusters and native yeast, their low-intervention winemaking in large, mostly old oak barrels (and some amphoras) results in powerful, structured wines. These elegant creations reveal layers of floral, herbal, and dark fruit 🍇 flavors, complemented by subtle minerality, making them beautiful, refined, and age-worthy.

To kick off the year, we’re excited to introduce an exceptional selection of wines. Presenting the 2023 vintage from Hofgut Falkenstein, a boutique and highly regarded German winery in Saar . Known for its classic, bright, and complex Rieslings crafted using ultra-traditional methods, the 2023 vintage is described as one of the finest✨ since the magical 2016.

Their Rieslings burst with mineral tension and vibrant acidity, with even the sweeter wines feeling drier than expected due to their refined touch. Low in alcohol yet rich in complexity, these wines showcase the unique nuances of their terroir.
