Restless River是2004年由Craig和Anne Wessels創辦，位在南非Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley，離大西洋僅5公里。他們的葡萄園從1999年開始種植，有老藤Chardonnay和Cabernet Sauvignon，還有較新種的Pinot Noir。花崗岩土壤搭上海洋氣候，釀出超優雅的酒款。✨
Craig和Anne本來對釀酒毫無經驗，買下園地只是想逃離開普敦的忙碌生活。Craig靠自學和實驗，摸索出一套簡單又重風土的釀酒方式，專做single-varietal葡萄酒。他用有機、低干預的方法，像自然發酵、整串壓榨、橡木桶及陶罐陳釀，讓酒喝起來特別優雅又充滿風土特色。
Restless River就像酒界的明日之星，十年內榮獲Tim Atkin MW的南非「二級酒莊」評級。以他們女兒命名的Ava Marie Chardonnay (96/100 for 2021)，2021年獲96分，Tim Atkin說它有豐富礦物感和濃郁細膩。以他們兒子命名的Le Luc Pinot Noir，完美演繹Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley的頂級Pinot 風土，味道帶咸且層次豐富。

Restless River, founded in 2004 by Craig and Anne Wessels, is a boutique estate in South Africa’s Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, 5 km from the Atlantic Ocean. With vines planted in 1999, including old Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, plus newer Pinot Noir, its granitic soils and maritime climate produce elegant wines.✨
With no winemaking background, Craig and Anne bought the farm to escape Cape Town. Craig, self-taught through books and experimentation, developed a minimalist, terroir-driven approach, focusing on single-varietal Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Using organic, low-intervention methods—natural fermentation, whole-bunch pressing, barrel and amphora aging—he highlights elegance and terroir.
Restless River has earned global acclaim, rising to “Second Growth” status in Tim Atkin MW’s South Africa classification within a decade. The Ava Marie Chardonnay, named after their daughter, praised by Tim Atkin (96/100 for 2021) for its minerality and concentration. The Le Luc Pinot Noir, named for their son, excels in Hemel-en-Aarde’s top Pinot terroir with savory complexity.
