Wine Dinner : Pinot Noir Serenade from Distant Lands

  • REX Wine & Grill B/F One Chinachem Central 22 Des Voeux Rd Central, Central Hong Kong SAR (map)

You are cordially invited to a wine dinner celebrating the artistry and diversity of Pinot Noir. Join us for a global journey through eight exceptional Pinot Noir wines, showcasing vibrant expressions from renowned and emerging regions, appealing to both classic and adventurous palates. Burgundy’s Pinot Noir shines, but others worldwide also delight.✨

Our exploration begins in Hokkaido with the Coco To Aru Pinot Noir 2022 from Japan, where cool volcanic soils craft an elegantly refined wine with delicate red fruits and subtle spice—a celebrated expression of northern Japan’s terroir. It’s crafted from grapes grown in Yoichi by the Kimura family, Japan’s veteran Pinot Noir growers, in a west-facing vineyard on red clay loam soil, vinified at 10R Winery.

From Australia’s high-altitude Macedon Ranges, Joshua Cooper Doug’s Vineyard Pinot Noir 2023, grown on red rocky volcanic basalt soil, weaves a vivid tapestry of raspberry and floral aromas, showcasing new-generation talent and old-vine complexity.

In South Africa’s Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, Restless River Le Luc Pinot Noir 2022 harnesses a cool maritime climate and decomposed granite soils to deliver concentrated berries, floral perfume, and earthy nuances—a New World benchmark. Canada’s Tawse Cherry Avenue Pinot Noir 2019, from Niagara’s Twenty Mile Bench, radiates organic purity with lively acidity, deep cherry fruit, and a touch of earth. This wine blends Old World inspiration with New World terroir, offering aromatic depth and profound structure.

The journey continues in France’s Loire Valley with Bretaudeau Statera Pinot Noir 2021. Grown on unique soils of granite, pink and white quartz, and gabbro — an unusual setting for the grape — this wine exudes distinct energy and finesse. From New Zealand’s Martinborough, Kusuda Pinot Noir 2014, with its tiny production, captures a true sense of place. Now beautifully mature, it offers a silken texture, perfumed berries, and herbal notes.

From Germany, Weingut Keller Dalsheimer Bürgel Spatburgunder Grosses Gewachs 2018 delivers elegance and depth, with expressive berries, minerals, and a savory chalky finish. The evening concludes with Switzerland’s Weingut Daniel & Marta Gantenbein Pinot Noir 2019, a rare gem seldom poured beyond its homeland, brimming with purity, generous fruit, and fine mineral structure.

Each glass narrates a unique story of landscapes, seasons, and visionary winemakers devoted to Pinot Noir’s singular challenge. Join us to savor diverse expressions. We look forward to raising a toast with you.
