Tasting note
From an east-facing site in Avize, not far from Les Avisés, informed by the late-ripening season, the 2016 Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Voie d'Oger, disgorged in June 2024 with 1.6 grams per liter dosage, has turned out very well. Unfurling from the glass with notes of beeswax, lemon zest, fresh hazelnut and dried white flowers, it is medium-bodied and textural yet bright, with a more tightly knit and mineral personality than Monts Ferrés. Laden with racy acidity and with a powerful chalkiness, it concludes with a long, precise finish. It’s the only wine of the estate vinified entirely in steel.
