Tasting note

The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St-Jacques 1er Cru feels a little muddled on the nose, lacking the delineation of its peers, which is perhaps disappointing considering the vineyard in question. The palate is better, offering crunchy red and black fruit, well-judged acidity, ne grip and a lovely saline, almost brine-like note that percolates through the fruit on the structured Finish. If the aromatics improve with bottle age, this will turn into a great Lavaux Saint-Jacques, though I remain cautious as it seems to lose a little energy in the glass. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
