Originated in the Loire Valley of France, Chenin Blanc is best known for its high acidity, refreshing character, and versatility to be made in a range of styles, from dry to sweet, from still to sparkling. Particularly when made in a dry style, Chenin Blanc has great potential to age gracefully, developing rich, honeyed flavors and an elegant style that can challenge some of the great white wines from Burgundy.

For those who appreciate the complexity and sophistication of White Burgundy made from the noble Chardonnay grape, we invite you to join us at this tasting event and discover the possibilities of Chenin Blanc as an alternative for some beautiful, age-worthy white wines.

First, we will taste the Minimalist Wines Experimental Blanc Chenin Blanc 2021, a New World example of Chenin Blanc from South Africa. We will then try two different cuvees from Domaine Laureau from the esteemed commune of Savennières in the Loire Valley: the Domaine Laureau Savennières Les Genêts 2018 and the Domaine Laureau Savennières Le Bel Ouvrage 2016. Originating from vineyards with differing soils, you will experience different expressions of the Savennières terroir. Last but not least, we will taste the Domaine de la Noblaie Chinon Chenin Blanc 1990, which is an excellent example of how Chenin Blanc can age beautifully over time.
