20+ Year Aged Taittinger Comtes de Champagne
Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2006剛到貨!香檳迷絕對不能錯過這支經典頂級Blanc de Blancs 🍾✨
Champagne Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2006 has just arrived in store – a must-have for any Champagne enthusiast!🍾✨
Champagne Taittinger is the third oldest House in the region (dating back to 1734) and among the last major independent, family-owned producers. With 288 hectares of prime vineyards and a signature focus on elegant Chardonnay, Taittinger delivers that delicate, fresh style we adore.
The Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs is their pinnacle 🌟– a 100% Chardonnay prestige cuvee, produced only in outstanding vintages from Grand Cru sites (Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger) in the Cote des Blancs. Made with the finest first-press juice, a touch of new oak for complexity, and aged 8-10 years on lees in cellars.
The 2006 vintage stands out beautifully: ripe yet vibrant, echoing the legendary 2002 (as noted by head winemaker Loic Dupont). It offers creamy texture, density, and enticing notes of baked apple tart, spice, chamomile, chalky minerality, and bright saline energy, drinking wonderfully now with decades of potential ahead.
Alongside the newly arrived 2006 vintage, we also have the 1995 vintage🥂 (at discounted price now). This 30+ year-old champagne offers rich toasty aromas with nutty and biscuity hints on the palate, complemented by honeyed citrus notes. Full-bodied and complex, it boasts pure flavors and a perfect balance of ripeness, maturation, and refreshing acidity. A true delight for lovers of aged Champagne.

The 2006 Comtes de Champagne is in a great spot. Baked apple tart, spice, chamomile, marzipan, slate and chalk confer tremendous vibrancy and power throughout. Bright saline notes play off the natural exuberance of the year. The 2006 was spectacular on release. It is all that today, too.

It was the first vintage of Comtes de Champagne that I drank in decent quantities. Released around the beginning of the 21st century, the forward fruit belied its robust, almost indestructible profile. For nearly a decade, this was in suspended animation: bright fruit accented with a toasty hazelnut aroma. It was only around 2010 that the first signs of development would appear. Recently, bottles show more tertiary honeyed notes framed by a line of sweet citrus. Retaining some freshness still, this should drink well for at least five years! Alcohol 12.50%. Drink from 2023-2028. Tasted Dec 2022.

Champagne Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2002 - Bt | RP98
HK$2,700
The 2002 Brut Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne is beginning to drink very well, wafting from the glass with a brilliant bouquet that mingles aromas of pear, citrus confit and dried fruits with notions of marzipan, brioche, oyster shell and smoke. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, broad and textural, with a layered and multidimensional core, considerable concentration and a long, penetrating finish. Racy and precise though the wine is, this is a somewhat broader, richer rendition of Comtes than the compelling 2008 that preceded it in this tasting, but it's hard to choose between the two in terms of quality.

Champagne Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Brut Rose 2005 - Bt | NM95
HK$2,400
We started with a pre-prandial 2005 Rosé Comtes de Champagne from Taittinger. This was ridiculously fine. Quite deep and almost Burgundian on the nose, it is vibrant and beautifully defined, with red cherries, bergamot and crushed stones in the background. Likewise, the palate has more weight and depth than other Rosés, with dark cherries and hints of white chocolate and nutmeg, lovely tension and grip on the finish. It represents everything I adore about Rosé Champagne, and it is drinking perfectly at present.
