🤫Vin Noe: Crafting Classic Yet Free-Spirited Burgundies (Pre-arrival)
Jonathan Purcell, an American, is the visionary behind Vin Noé. In 2012, he relocated to France, settling in Beaune to train as a winemaker. He honed his craft for several years under a few renowned Burgundy producers Philippe Pacalet, Domaine de Montille and Domaine Matrot before founding Vin Noé in 2016.
Initially, Jon crafted his wines using purchased grapes sourced from Macôn and Beaujolais. In early 2020, a remarkable opportunity arose when he acquired leases for exceptional, meticulously maintained vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin, following winemaker Jean-Jacques Morel’s retirement from Burgundy winemaking.
Jon’s winemaking approach is minimalist and hands-off, yet precise and deliberate. His wines are vibrant and impeccably crafted, made with spontaneous fermentation, no new oak, no fining or filtration, no pumps, extended maceration with whole clusters, and no added sulfur. The resulting wines are richly textured yet gracefully refined, balancing a timeless, sophisticated character with a lively, unforced purity.
