Jean Foillard is an essential figure in Beaujolais and a precursor of natural wine. As a founding member of the renowned "Gang of Four" alongside Marcel Lapierre, Guy Breton, and Jean-Paul Thevenet, he—together with his wife Agnes—crafts pure, soulful Gamay through dedicated natural methods: organic old vines, whole-cluster fermentation, aging in seasoned Burgundy barrels (including some from Romanee-Conti), and minimal intervention.
The result is a wine of remarkable purity and finesse🍷—silky, mineral-driven, and often compared to fine Burgundy for its sophistication rather than everyday Beaujolais.
