不熟悉Scions of Sinai嗎？這個位於Southern Stellenbosch Lower Helderberg的小酒莊是第七代釀酒師Bernhard Bredell的熱情之作。2016年創立，酒莊名字融合「scion」（幼苗或後代）與「Sinai」(指的是Bredell家族160多年來種植灌木葡萄藤的Sinai Hill)。Bernhard致力於守護這些老藤，釀造展現獨特風土的葡萄酒，年產量不到900箱，相當稀少。
Scions of Sinai專注於有機、低干預的釀酒工藝，主打隆河品種（Syrah、Grenache Blanc、Cinsaut）、Pinotage，以及Chenin Blanc和Roussanne的混釀。葡萄園位於dry-farmed的花崗岩土壤，距離福爾斯灣（False Bay）僅3.5公里，涼爽的海風賦予酒款清新純淨的風味、細膩口感，單寧緊實，與Stellenbosch較濃郁的風格截然不同。Bernhard採用天然酵母自然發酵，僅使用微量二氧化硫，並以舊法國橡木桶或混凝土容器陳釀，保留葡萄園的純粹特色。

New to Scions of Sinai? This boutique Lower Helderberg winery from Southern Stellenbosch is the passion of seventh-generation winemaker Bernhard Bredell. Founded in 2016, its name blends “scion” (young vine or descendant) and “Sinai” (the hill where his family has farmed bush vines for over 160 years). Bernhard preserves these old vines while crafting wines that express the unique terroir. Producing under 900 cases annually, his wines are rare treasures.
Scions of Sinai focuses on organic, minimal-intervention winemaking, emphasizing Rhone varietals (Syrah, Grenache Blanc, Cinsaut) and Pinotage, alongside Chenin Blanc and Roussanne in blends. The vineyards, rooted in dry-farmed granite soils, benefit from the cooling maritime influence of False Bay, just 3.5km away. This results in wines with vibrant purity, finesse, and tight, grainy tannins, distinct from the more opulent Stellenbosch styles. Bernhard’s philosophy is to guide rather than manipulate, using natural fermentations with wild yeasts, no additives except minimal sulphur, and aging in older French oak or concrete to preserve the vineyard’s character.
Bernhard’s dedication earned him the title of South Africa’s Young Winemaker of the Year by Tim Atkin just after his second vintage.
Notable wines include:
Granietsteen Chenin Blanc: From a 1978 vineyard, this wine offers intense stone fruit, citrus, and a saline edge, hailed as one of Stellenbosch’s finest Chenins.
Swanesang Syrah: A top single-vineyard Syrah with bright cherry, floral notes, and a grippy, balanced finish, often considered Bernhard’s best.
Feniks Pinotage: Sourced from a 1976 vineyard, this elegant Pinotage blends black cherry and pomegranate, redefining the varietal with freshness and finesse.
Nomadis: A delicate blend of Cinsault and Pinotage, showcasing fragrant cherry and raspberry with a light, structured palate.
Gramadoelas Grenache Blanc: From the Klein Karoo, it bursts with citrus, pear, and a savory herbaceous finish.
